Michael Gemmell
Executive Director

As director, Michael Gemmell is responsible the overall administration of Green Venture. A graduate of the University of Toronto and of Wilfrid Laurier University, he has been with the organization since 2007, and has an employment background in energy conservation and renewables. A former museum director, he came to the organization as a heritage property management specialist.

Erinn Todd
Operations Manager

Erinn Todd attended the University of Toronto, where she specialized in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, as well as completed a Master of Environmental Science. She has worked in Cuba, Peru, and Chile for various biological and environmental research programs. She is passionate about biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability, and enjoys learning about new issues and developments in both areas.

Erinn is responsible for managing the fee-for-service programs of Green Venture, including the energy auditing team, as well as overseeing the EcoHouse property.

Virginia Stonehouse
Education Manager

Virginia Stonehouse graduated from Laurentian University in 2008 with a degree in Fine Arts, and from Trent University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Education. She is the co-founder of RevWear, an organization which teaches people how to revamp their wardrobe by turning old clothes into new creations. Ms. Stonehouse has been trained in “Project WILD”, “Below Zero”, and teaching autistic children. She has 4 years of experience in literacy tutoring, and 5 years volunteer experience with Kid’s Club. Ms. Stonehouse develops and coordinates EcoHouse school tours and children’s programming.

Laura Anderson
Program Coordinator

Laura Anderson uses Environmental Stewardship as a guiding principle in her work and her life emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility for one’s impact on the earth. She attended the University of Guelph, majoring in International Development with a focus on Rural and Agricultural Development. She has spent the past several years working within the local food system in farming, including managing a Community Shared Agriculture Farm, and education, teaching about Urban Homesteading, Preserving and Canning, and Environmental Stewardship. Laura is responsible for delivering the Depave Paradise and Raingers Rain Gardens Programs at Green Venture. She coordinates with local schools and communities to remove pavement from underutilized areas to plant green spaces with native species, install rain gardens and permeable pavements. She also delivers educational programs to raise awareness of stormwater management practices and the urban water cycle.
