Since 2013, Union Gas Customers in south central Ontario are eligible to participate in the utility’s Home Renovation Rebate program. As a member of Green Communities Canada, Green Venture is an eligible agency to conduct the energy audits and can assist you in navigating this program. For the Union Gas Home Renovation Rebate Program, we service Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Haldimand, Norfolk, and Brant County.
July 29, 2016- The Ontario Government has announced the Green Investment Fund to augment renovation rebates. This will raise the retrofit rebates provided under the Home Renovation Rebate Program to a new maximum of $5000 per house. As part of this program, participating clients will receive $500 back for their energy audits (that’s $500 total for the pre and post audits, not $500 for each), plus up to $4500 for eligible home renovation rebates.

Union Gas Home Renovation Rebate Program (with Ontario Green Investment Fund augmentation)
Customer Eligibility criteria
Green Venture can perform rebate-eligible audits for customers in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Haldimand, Norfolk, and Brant.
To participate, you must:
- Heat your home with a natural gas, oil or propane furnace/ boiler; or wood stove (electric customers are not eligible)
- Own a detached or semi-detached home, row/town house, or mobile home
- Do an energy assessment both before and after your renovation.
- Complete at least two eligible renovations

|For replacing a solid fuel-fired outdoor boiler with an outdoor wood-burning appliance certified to either CAN/CSA-B415.1 or United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Outdoor Wood-fired Hydronic Heater (OWHH Method 28) Program (Phase 1 and 2). The capacity of the new equipment must be equal to or smaller than the capacity of the boiler being replaced.|

**Only Home Reno Rebate participants who have completed their E assessment will be eligible for the Smart thermostat rebate.
Other Rebate enhancements
- Maximum rebate of $5,000 including up to $500 for both energy assessments (vs. $2,500 under pre-August 2016 program). Customer pays the HST on the cost of the assessments similar to current program.
- A bonus rebate of $250 per measure, calculated for 3+ measures
o If a customer completed 3 measures, they will be eligible for $250 in bonus
o If a customer completed 4 measures, they will be eligible for $500 bonus, and so on.
**Smart thermostats will not be considered one of the eligible energy efficiency upgrades to qualify for the enhanced HRR offering, and will not contribute towards eligibility for the bonus rebate offer.
A a not-for-profit education organization, Green Venture conducts energy audits using the EnerGuide Rating system under an agreement with Green Communities Canada, an umbrella organization of like-minded environmental non-profits, and GCC’s affiliate, Green Communities Incorporated.
