2017- “Enhanced Fresh Air for Kids”

Is your school concerned about air quality in the vicinity of the playgrounds? Would you like to see more children walk to school? Are idling cars polluting your schools’ approaches?

Presented by Green Venture and Corr Research, the 2017 Enhanced Fresh Air for Kids program, funded by Clean Air Hamilton, enables the students in your class to make informed decisions about sustainable transportation and outdoor activity based on air quality and to understand the local impacts of air quality on their health.

The 2017 program includes a student-led anti-idling education campaign, where not only will the class or ecoteam help shape the hand-outs, but they will actively help inform their parents and the publci with a pair of afternoon school anti-idling blitzes.

A curriculum-linked presentation at school enables the students in your class to make informed decisions about sustainable transportation and outdoor activity based on air quality and to understand the impacts of local air quality on health.

A second workshop focuses on the collection of air samples in your school’s neighbourhood. Your class will then analyse and investigate data from professional air quality measurement devices and meet with scientists to discuss the results.
