Alert: Wondering what to do with your leftover garden pots and trays?
Bring them to EcoHouse! Green Venture is now collecting your unwanted gardening pots and trays for recycling!
The City of Hamilton blue box recycling program no longer accepts black plastic plant pots and trays, due to the unpredictability of the recycling market. Effective May 1st, 2018, these materials were considered garbage.
However, a local company (Little Green Plastic Inc.) does accept black plastic pots and trays for recycling, and has a market for the washed and ground plastic material. Your unwanted black plastic pots will be recycled back into the general plastic recycling stream and reused!
Please bring your number 2, 5, and 7 black plastic gardening pots and trays to our newly constructed recycling container at EcoHouse. Find it at the main entrance driveway off Ambrose Ave. beside our waste shed.
Please note: ONLY black pots and trays with the numbers 2, 5, and 7 will be accepted. Other plastics, styrofoam, and trash are not accepted.
Please help us collect pots and trays so that they can be recycled into a useful product rather than being dumped into a landfill!
