Get outside, connect with nature and grow your green thumb at EcoHouse

Spring Registration Now Open!!

Get outside with Nature Ninjas! Want to learn a new skill that can follow you throughout the years? Join us for a dose of gardening with nature at Green Venture’s EcoHouse. Nature Ninjas is a new, after school, drop-off program for kids ages 6-12 to become active through gardening and outdoor exploration throughout the seasons. We’ll explore the 2 acres of EcoHouse grounds, sow vegetable and native plant seeds in our solarium to later plant in the ground in our community garden. Harvest, explore, play, cook and learn while connecting with the nature all around us! EcoHouse is an ecosystem all on its own, tucked into the Davis Creek neighbourhood. Join us in building a community of active gardeners, environmental stewards and nature lovers!

Examples of some of our activities include:

  • Planting and tending to a vegetable garden
  • Nature hikes
  • Tree identification walks
  • Building habitats for insects
  • Nature Yoga
  • Bird Identification
  • Planting seeds
  • Removing invasive species
  • Gardening tasks such as weeding, raking, shovelling

Field trips to other Hamilton gardens such as Gage Park will be planned in advance and require alternate location drop off. Green Venture will not supply transportation to offsite locations. Please note EcoHouse is not accessible.

Programs are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. If a club is full, you can sign up to be on the club waitlist. A snack will be provided (or prepared by the club members!) each session.

Registration Fees

Inclement Weather Policy

Nature Ninjas will run rain or shine! Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather conditions. In the case of severe inclement weather such as thunderstorms, snowstorms, or high winds, Nature Ninjas will run indoors.

Behavioural Policy

Green Venture is a safe and welcoming space for all staff, children, and volunteers. We strive to be encouraging and role model positive, kind, and respectful behaviour. If we find that your child’s behaviour is leading to an unsafe environment for others, you will be contacted and your child may be asked to leave Nature Ninjas. In this case, the registration fee will not be returned. Examples of unsafe behaviour include (but are not limited to): violence to themselves or others, bullying, damaging property, refusing to follow safety rules, repeatedly running out of sight, or continued disruption to the program, and being disrespectful. When conflicts do arise, Green Venture staff can help to guide children to resolution and offer suggestions to parents for improving behaviour during the club.

Registration & Cancellation Policy

Registration is required for Nature Ninjas. Your child’s registration will be confirmed once payment is received. This program runs on a first-come first-serve basis. Children will be added to a waitlist once the club maximum is filled. If a spot becomes available, the next person on the waitlist will be contacted.

As this is a subsidized club, we encourage children to attend every session. If a registrant missed two club meetings in a row without notice, they may lose their spot to the next person on the waitlist.

Requests for refunds within two weeks of the club start date will receive a 50% refund only.

Requests for refunds within one week of the club start date will not receive a refund.

Refunds will not be granted for inclement weather.

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to

Pick-Up Policy

Only parents and caregivers listed in the completed online registration form can pick up registrants at the end of each club session. If club staff have not met you, you will be asked to present your identification at pick up time. Please ensure all parents and caregivers who have permission to pick up your child are listed on your registration form.
