Dave Hart Dyke: Education Support Staff
David has a long history in science education and environmental conservation. David has contributed to Green Venture’s Fresh Air For Kids, Totally Transit and Bus Brains programs, and is part of the team providing on-site tours of Green Venture. David is also active in Scientists In School and Earth Day Hamilton-Burlington.
Kelly Vanwalleghem: Education Support Staff & Seedy Saturday 2020 Coordinator
Growing up in a rural setting Kelly had an early appreciation for nature and acknowledged the need to help with the planet’s stewardship. She graduated from University of Guelph with a diploma in Horticulture going on to spend many years working in the dirt. Some of her main passions are urban agriculture, green roofs, sustainable cities and waste reduction. Now she gets a chance to inspire young people to take good care of our planet.
Kristina Mihalec: Education Support Staff
Kristina has a degree in Anthropology with a minor in Indigenous Women’s Studies and International Law and Human Rights. She has years of experience with non profits and non governmental organizations on the local and international level. She also enjoys being a fitness instructor for children and older adults.
Jacey Aikens: Environmental Outreach Assistant (Co Op Student)
Jacey Aikens attends the University of Waterloo, where she majors in Environmental Resource Sustainability. She has worked previously with the Environment Network, another environmental non-profit (based in Collingwood) as a Depave project manager. In this position Jacey was able to facilitate the removal of just over 1400m2 of asphalt in the Simcoe County region. Jacey is passionate about climate action and the culture shift required to cultivate it. She especially enjoys learning about new ways to approach and potentially solve today’s sustainability problems. Jacey is responsible for community outreach and engagement of Green Venture’s Depave Paradise Program, as well as the general promotion of enhanced stormwater management in Hamilton through suggested proliferation of green infrastructure.
Glenn Stewart: Maintenance
Glenn has been a resident of Stoney Creek for 38 years. He worked as a Certified Ontario Millwright in various industries and was a Wastewater Plant Operator, Class 4 Certification. His hobbies include kayaking, outdoor trails, volunteering at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 622 House Chair and being a treasurer at New Horizons Seniors Club, Battlefield Branch.
Brent Cooper: Certified Energy Advisor
Registered Home Inspector since 1999 with Ontario Association of Home Inspectors. Natural Resources Canada Registered Energy Advisor since 2002. 10 years as question and answer columnist for Canadian Homes and Cottages Magazine. Professional guitar player since 1979.
Jordan Fysh: Certified Energy Advisor
Jordan has devoted his entire career to support environmental initiatives. His latest evolution is as a Registered Energy Advisor. His passion is to help others live the most sustainable life they can. As an Energy Advisor, Jordan will be helping homeowners make informed decisions about retrofitting their homes with an eye on energy efficiency. Jordan also is a bicycle mechanic and a trained Yoga instructor.
