- When and where is the Repair Cafe?
On July 27, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ecohouse 22 Veevers Drive Hamilton, ON L8K 5P7.
- What kinds of household items can I bring to the Repair Cafe ?
At the Repair Cafe on Tuesday, we will have fixers with expertise on repairing small electronics, clothes, leather items, wooden items, toys, handbags, among others. And they can fix many other household items. So just bring it on!
- How many broken items can I bring to the Repair Cafe?
To keep things running smoothly, we ask that you sign up for a time slot for the item you would like mended. Please plan to arrive at EcoHouse approximately 15 minutes before your time slot, to allow yourself plenty of time to park and check-in with Green Venture staff. Limited street parking is available. Time slots will be 30 minutes in length, but the repair may take longer depending on the item.
- Who are Fixers?
Fixers are volunteers who are skilled at repairing household items. The team of fixers at Green Venture’s First Repair Cafe has a variety of expertise, from electronics, furniture, clothes, wallets, woodwork, to toys and bikes, among others.
- What kind of help can I expect from a fixer?
Your fixer will repair your item and bring your beloved item back to life. You can request advice and guidance and carry out the repair yourself. Please note that repairs are not guaranteed. However, we will do our best to help you find a business who can. In addition, please respect that our focus for clothing fixes is on repair rather than alterations.
- Is there any cost involved in repairs at the Repair Cafe?
The work carried out at the Repair Cafe is done free of charge on a voluntary basis by the fixers available. If you are satisfied with your experience at the Cafe, we would greatly appreciate it if you are able to make a cash donation at your discretion. This is just to help cover our cost.
- Will it be safe to make these repairs?
All fixers are knowledgeable with regard to the safe use of the tools and equipment available.
