Environmental Education Assistants
Sabine O’Donnell, Environmental Education Assistant
Hello! My name is Sabine O’Donnell and I am excited to be working with Green Venture this summer as an Environmental Education Assistant! I have just completed a B.A. in Geography from McMaster University where I had a focus on environmental issues and making urban planning more sustainable not just environmentally, but socially and economically as well. I will be returning to McMaster in the fall for a Master’s in Geography, specifically researching issues of affordable housing and social inclusion in Hamilton. Outside of school, I am working towards creating sustainable living practices for myself and learning how to support my local community. I am looking forward to using the knowledge I gained from my degree as well as my own personal experience to create educational programming for students around the city!
Helena Cousins, Environmental Education Assistant
Hi, I’m Helena! I grew up in Hamilton before studying aquatic biology and coastal management in Guelph and Halifax. In the past couple years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on environmental restoration and marine park management projects with two small NGOs in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Belize. I’m passionate about connecting people with local ecology and maintaining healthy, accessible green space in Hamilton. I’m very excited to be working with Green Venture, where I’ll be engaging Hamiltonians through Green Venture’s Catch the RAIN program this summer!
Communications Assistant
Alexandra Ho, Communications Assistant
Hi everyone! My name is Alexandra Ho and I’m so excited to join Green Venture for the summer as the Communications Assistant. I am a current fourth year student at Queen’s University pursuing a degree in Psychology and a Certificate in Business with the Smith School of Business. I have developed a long-standing interest in plant-based living and understanding the role that agriculture plays within our lives as consumers.
I can’t wait to learn more about what it looks like to live an empowered, eco-friendly lifestyle in Hamilton and look forward to connecting with you online through the Green Venture platform!
Landscape Gardeners
Ryan Hunt, Landscape Gardener
Born and raised in Hamilton, I am entering my fifth year of Concurrent Education at Brock University. In addition, I have taken geography and environmental science courses because I am passionate about the environment. I enjoy gardening and growing native trees from seeds. I look forward to working with Green Venture and sharing my appreciation for environmental sustainability and stewardship.
Charlotte Tousaw, Landscape Gardener
Hi, I’m Charlotte! This summer, I’m working as a Gardener for Green Venture. My studies focussed on ecology and environmental science at McMaster University, and they helped me to become more passionate about the conservation of our natural world. I’ve worked in a few outdoor education settings before, but I’m most looking forward to getting my hands in the dirt to help make the Ecohouse site look its best. I’m also excited to learn and adopt more strategies for living a sustainable lifestyle!
