Join Our Grass to Garden Design Workshop!
Say goodbye to the endless cycle of mowing, watering, and fertilizing, and hello to a low-maintenance, eco-friendly garden oasis right outside your doorstep. Join us for our rain garden design workshop and take the first step towards transforming your lawn into a beautiful and sustainable landscape that you can enjoy for years to come.
Hosted by Green Venture, this workshop aims to empower Hamilton residents to take action against water runoff pollution and create beautiful, sustainable landscapes that benefit both people and the planet. At this design workshop, you will learn more about Green Infrastructure such as rain gardens, rainwater harvesting, and permeable driveways. Green Venture staff will explain the residential rebate program where Hamilton residents are eligible for up to $500 for their Green Infrastructure projects.
Why Rain Gardens?
Rain gardens are not only aesthetically pleasing but also serve a critical ecological function. They are designed to capture and filter rainwater runoff, preventing pollutants from entering our waterways and replenishing groundwater supplies. By replacing traditional grass lawns with rain gardens, you can reduce erosion, alleviate flooding, and support local biodiversity.
What to Expect
Our expert speaker Michael Albanese will explain the principles of rain garden design, including site selection, plant selection, and installation techniques. Our expert facilitators will guide you through the process step-by-step, providing practical tips and creative ideas for designing a garden that suits your unique space and preferences.
