Join the Launch Party to learn how you can get involved with the Urban Gardening Club! Happening November 26th 2-4pm at Pinch, 183 Sherman Ave N.
The gardens on Barton St are blooming – but who will take care of them? Gardens need maintenance such as weeding, pruning and litter clean up. Over the years, Green Venture has worked with community partners to install six community gardens along Barton St. They are located at
- 342 Barton St E (Barton and Emerald)
- 539 Barton St E (Barton and Westinghouse)
- 571 Barton St E (Barton and Milton)
- 579-581 Barton St E (Barton and Fullerton)
- 621 Barton St E (EduDeo)
- 673 Barton St E
These rain gardens bring many benefits to the area, including capturing stormwater, providing a space for pollinators, filtering air, and improving physical and mental well-being by serving as green spaces for the area.
Volunteers have cared for these spaces periodically, but as we grow these urban garden projects, we are ready to expand the volunteer program too! Starting November 2023, Green Venture, along with Barton BIA and Pinch Bakery and Plant shop will be hosting an Urban Gardening Club. We will host exciting drop-in workshops and provide an opportunity for newbies, experienced gardeners, plant lovers, apartment dwellers, newcomers to the area, and community members to improve their gardening literacy.
Network with the community and learn more about urban gardening with a sustainable focus in a friendly space!
If you can’t help with maintenance of the gardens, you are still welcome to join the club! We will share volunteer opportunities to support the local rain gardens, and volunteering will be self-led so that you can volunteer at your convenience.
