Hello everyone!
My name is Jacey Aikens and I’m currently filling the role of Environmental Outreach Assistant here at Green Venture. I’ve been here for just over a month now and I am thrilled about the amazing opportunity to learn, grow and build my communication skills with this organization. I’m working here on a 4 month co op term through the University of Waterloo. At Waterloo, I study Environmental Resource Sustainability. In this program we tackle the big environmental issues of today from an interdisciplinary lens, because we understand that these issues are more than ecological problems, they are also political and economic, etc..
My last co op was with a similar organization based out of Collingwood ON, my hometown! There I worked as a project manager for their Depave Paradise Program. Through this co op I built up my knowledge around Depaving and Green Infrastructure in general. I am extremely excited to apply what I know and learn even more with the guidance and experience of Green Venture’s amazing team of staff & volunteers!
While I’m working with Green Venture my primary job will be to help secure new depave sites and promote the adoption of more Green Infrastructure in Hamilton. When I’m not at work you can find me exploring the city, & checking out the local music scene, I love to discover new places!
