We are gearing up for another great summer at Green Venture, and we’re excited to introduce the summer students for 2023 who will be supporting us along the way! Our team this year brings together a diverse set of academic backgrounds, interests in many areas of environmentalism, and skillsets. The team is so excited to get started and to connect with the Hamilton-Wentworth community across a variety of new projects and programs.

Environmental Education Assistants
Erica Ramelli, Environmental Education Assistant
Erica is passionate about environmental education and is very excited to be joining Green Venture. She has a Bachelors of Arts and Science from the University of Guelph where she studied ecology, environmental science, and geography. She is currently attending Nipissing University for her Bachelors of Education and plans on becoming a high-school teacher. In her free time, Erica enjoys baking, traveling, and spending time outdoors.Colette Santo, Environmental Education Assistant
Colette studies at McMaster University pursuing a B.A. in Environment & Society and a Minor in Earth Science. To live more sustainably, she enjoys thrifting, mending her clothes, and using public transportation. Colette is passionate about geology and enjoys finding fossils during her free time.Bohmee Kim, Environmental Education Assistant
Bohmee is a fourth-year Arts & Science student at McMaster University. She is interested in thinking about how we might build and design sustainable cities that materialize climate justice. Her enthusiasm for fostering sustainable communities has led her to join the Green Venture’s Education Team this summer. Through her role, Bohmee hopes to learn more about climate justice from the Hamilton community and the Green Venture team and apply her learnings in her everyday life.Energy Program Assistants
Dea Rylott, Energy & Education Program Assistant
Dea is a recent graduate of the McMaster School of Social Work, and has returned to Green Venture for a second summer to help both the Education and Energy teams as a program assistant. They are passionate about climate justice and supporting local initiatives that increase biodiversity in Hamilton. Dea is interested in the connection between the natural environment and the overall mental health of a community, and often spends their free time exploring local forests in search of mushrooms or birds to identify.
Erika Halverson, Energy Program Assistant
Erika will be entering her third year at the University of Waterloo, in the environmental planning program. Her engagement and passion for the environment and community have brought Erika to work with Green Venture as an Energy Program Assistant. Erika hopes to gain more incite into creating energy-efficient homes and utilize this knowledge within her planning degree and throughout the Hamilton community this summer. In her spare time, Erika loves to create delicious coffees, go on camping trips, and loves to snowboard.
Garden Program Assistant
Aleks Duric, Garden Program Assistant
Aleks is a second year planning student from the University of Waterloo. At Green Venture, he is helping the garden program continue to host events for the public in the form of planning and development, as well as keeping the EcoHouse grounds tidy. He is interested in how the built form of our cities interacts with the natural environment.Green Infrastructure Program Assistant
